Test and Packet due: 4/6-7
Reading: As of 3/17- both 1st and 2nd periods should be finished with chapter 26. You should finish the book (only 5 more chapters) before spring break during in class reading time and homework.
Study Guide (packet): answers should contain commentary, quote, and citation. I begin by counting citations for the number of questions we have and then add in points for good notes and great essay quality answers. Last check the highest grade was a 107/74. There were more than 74 quotes/citations for 74 questions. Notes were great and so was the quality of the answers. This is a great chance for students to receive extra credit.
Final packet assignment: we read this book not just because it is great literature, but because its lessons are still important today. Find an article about a "mockingbird" who was a victim of any kind of prejudice in the last month. Print, annotate, and create a work cited. Want to watch a documentary or movie? Want to interview someone instead? Just take notes and add MLA and work cited.
There is no homework assigned for spring break if you are all caught up. If you are behind, you should use the extra time to make better progress. :)
Extra credit? Use your notes and packet to write a short essay on To Kill a Mockingbird.- upload to turnitin.com. Talk with me about your topic and outline.
