Reminders!
Vocabulary 1-10 exam
is on November 2nd and 3rd. Your 1-10 root list is due on that day. If you have flashcards or have practiced on Quizzlet- that will be extra credit if you also have it on that day. Vocabulary is announced and planned in August, so come ready. No late work.

Ender's Game: We are on chapter 11. Please finish the chapter and questions at home.
Anticipate that we read a chapter a class. You may read ahead of course. :)
I highly recommend Ender's Shadow (Bean's story) or Speaker for the Dead (an older Ender) next.

Every story has its truth

We may not agree with each other's point of views, but in a global community it is important that we try to understand different points of view. Archeologists as late as 1997 said that the Greeks weren't smart enough to understand that fossils were from earlier periods-- no matter how many stories they wrote or pictures they drew. Our inability to take such a rich society seriously- cost us centuries of scientific strides forward. How can we look at the stories other cultures tell, our own culture tells, with a scientific mind and learn from each other. Classwork: Read Ender's Game Chapter 5 and work on the study guide. Watch video-discuss and work on study guide. Get into groups if time to complete the back. Use your phones to look up what societies may have been first to come up with some of our most important advances. Realize that you may all come up with different answers. You may also come up with sites that privilege one society over another. Homework: Work on vocab. Latin 7, finish study guide, and complete essay if undone. Thank you all for your work on the essays (see below) and to all of you that turned it in already. They look really great!
