Breaking Bread- Food Week!

10/2/2015

Classwork: Quiz on the Twins. We read about Hephaestus and Aphrodite and discussed. We talked about the upcoming food presentation. We shared a few more music presentations. We will finish Monday/Tuesday.

Homework: Work on food presentation. Assignment #5, include a song for one of them, and an article. My favorite for Hephaestus "Creep" by Radiohead, but due language - here's another. :)

Thank you for sharing your food and stories with me! Here are a few of my cakes. I bake to show family and friends that I love and support them. It is a lengthy process, but life is busy and you don't always have the time you want to spend together everyday. This is a way for me to show that I care and that I will always be there in the most important moments of their lives.  -Hill
But it is also FOOD Week next week! Same presentation- 4th time around. We use food to share our customs, beliefs, make treaties, strengthen families and to create new relationships. Food is always a communion of some kind. Explore and share the meaning of food for cultures around the world with your class in a feast for the mind and body. Citations still count, but feel free to include your grandmother as a wonderfully important source! Bring in a sample for extra credit- but remember you don't have to feed the whole class. Samples will do. :) Below is the article we read in class about how big a difference it makes to eat together. It isn't just symbolic. :)
