There is an English Department meeting, so I will be out.
Please complete the following and I will be back to help and review on Friday. :)
  • Article Review: Due Friday on Turnitin.com
    • We laid out the whole essay on Monday. Use the parts to put your essay together on Google. Copy and paste the MLA format in your document.
    • Final outline: Intro- 2 sent., 2 Body paragraphs- one on the article and one connecting your journals (think questions) to the article- each with 3 quotes from the article, Conclusion- 1 sent, Work Cited.
    • If you use the Google button from the StudySync Write tab, it will automatically coordinate it for you between Google and StudySync. If that isn't working, or you need help, write it in Google MLA template and I will help you on Friday. :)
    • Your goal? Complete it in class. If not done? Complete it for homework.
    • On Friday, we review, submit to StudySync, peer review, and submit to Turnitin.com. :)
  • "As I Grew Older" - Langston Hughes
    • Reread "As I Grew Older" and annotate/discuss with a group.
    • Finish the worksheet in your packet. Finish by the end of the period or at home. Due Friday.
    • Homework (use Chromebooks and try to complete in class :)- Look up an article (current event) of your choice about the things that can keep people, especially marginalized people, from their dreams: homelessness, statelessness,  prejudice, etc. If you show our sub. your article already chosen, you may go to the library to print. Bring in the article annotated by Friday-Tuesday.
    • We will take now all your thoughts and evidence and put together an essay using your journals (think questions), "Invisible Millions," "As I Grew Older." and your article of choice. The main topic: Dreams.
  • Lastly, make a star (or any shape) to house your letter about your dreams.
    • Turn in to the aid's desk so we can hang from the "sky" as we contemplate the meaning of dreams.
