Hill's Homework

Have you ever wanted to give your teacher homework?  Well, here is your chance! Give me your favorite book (movie, or song, etc.) and I will try my best to get through as many of them as possible. I typically finish about 13- which is more than I assign! :) So what is the best, most important, most exciting, most thoughtful- book you have ever read? I will post a list as read of what I am reading, what I finished, and what I recommend. You are also welcome to write your blog on your favorite book and share it with the community! :)

It all started when...

First book recommended to me: Ender's Game -Read both the Ender's Game, Ender's Shadow series. Purchased for Bonita High (when I worked there) and Glendora High School. Mandatory summer homework for honors. Recommended by Carl. How many students have read it now because of the recommendation? 100-200 students a year since 2000. Thank you Carl. :)  And so began the quest for more books recommended by students.

    Recommend a book!!

Give me a favorite author, book title, movie, song, or anything. I will do my best to get to it! Let me know your name and why you like it! :)

From Amazon:
Alyssa Gardner hears the whispers of bugs and flowers—precisely the affliction that landed her mother in a mental hospital years before. This family curse stretches back to her ancestor Alice Liddell, the real-life inspiration for Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. Alyssa might be crazy, but she manages to keep it together. For now.

When her mother’s mental health takes a turn for the worse, Alyssa learns that what she thought was fiction is based in terrifying reality. The real Wonderland is a place far darker and more twisted than Lewis Carroll ever let on. There, Alyssa must pass a series of tests, including draining an ocean of Alice’s tears, waking the slumbering tea party, and subduing a vicious bandersnatch, to fix Alice’s mistakes and save her family. She must also decide whom to trust: Jeb, her gorgeous best friend and secret crush, or the sexy but suspicious Morpheus, her guide through Wonderland, who may have dark motives of his own.
